BOXING

Boxing is widely considered one of the most physically demanding sports in the world. These classes are geared towards sharing the knowledge of the art of boxing rather than on cardio (which will be offered by Meighen Hodgen), Coach Meyer will concentrate on building athletes.

If the boxer is just a beginner, a class might consist of learning how to hit the heavy bag or other equipment as well as doing shadow boxing in front of a mirror, and skipping rope. Most beginning boxers will spend most of their early time conditioning, and learning the fundamentals of boxing. For the amateur or professional boxer, preparing for a competition might be in the training regime and training is much more rigorous and also offered at the club.

KICK-BOXING

This class is an introductory level program offered to the beginner, intermediate and advanced athletes. You will learn the fundamentals of American style kickboxing (no knees, elbows, or kicks below the waist). This is a non-contact class where the first 30 minutes consists of boot camp style training with heavy bags and body weight exercise. The final half will include technical work learning the skills of kickboxing. Athletes will be provided with kick shields and are recommended to bring their own gloves and hand wraps.

CARDIO KICK-BOXING

Cardio Kickboxing is a mixture of boxing, martial arts, and aerobics with high energy music that is fun and will keep you motivated. The objective of cardio kickboxing is to give you a total-body training program that combines an aerobic workout with the movements and techniques of martial arts. Unlike training in combat sports, there is no physical contact or sparring. Cardio kickboxing is offered as a fun and functional alternative to aerobics training for clients who want a stress buster workout with great results.


Jiu-Jitsu

BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class will be trained as a sport. Ju-Jitsu working with sport wrestling and the fine art of submission. Classes will be 60 minutes in length. First, 10-15 min will be a dynamic warm up along with core strengthening followed by technique and the final 20 minutes will be open roll.

MOVING WITH MEGS / BOOTY PUMP

This full body workout will energize you and have you wanting to come back for more! Beginner or advanced in fitness? Not a problem, Meighen provides each exercise with varying intensities to fit your ability and fitness level. Moving with Megs will incorporate cardio, strength training, core work, and stretching giving you that total body work-out experience.

WRESTLING

Wrestling is a combat sport involving grappling techniques, throws and takedowns, joint locks, pins and other holds. This class will be focused on the basics of Olympic Wrestling. This is a fundamental class where it builds the foundation of wrestling for athletes. They will be taught strength, power, position control and discipline all in a safe environment.

Kids Classes

KICKSTART PLUS

Kickstart Plus for kids is a curriculum-based program from Kickboxing Ontario. This class is for ages 4-13 to increase the skills and teach self-discipline. This will be a class structure that compliments and differentiates for the range of abilities and personalities. There will be weekly lessons, assessments, monthly evaluation and recognition. There will be a graded system for each child to progress. Jason Kelly, the instructor, will sit down one on one with student and parent to go over success and improvements.

KIDS WRESTLING

Kids wrestling will be very similar to the adult wrestling class. This is a fundamental class where it builds the foundation of wrestling for athletes. They will be taught strength, power, position control and discipline all in a safe environment.
